Bowl Feeders for Enhancing Medical Device Manufacturing Processes

Equipment used in the production of medical products and devices are required to meet stringent clean room requirements. We at Vibratory Feeders Inc. (VFI) utilize our immense design knowledge and manufacturing experience to produce vibratory feeding systems that meet FDA guidelines.

Materials Used

When we design our feeders for medical manufacturing applications, we ensure that all the components used adhere to FDA regulations. We recommend using 303 or 304 type stainless steel for all components, as they meet medical manufacturing requirements of sterility, and resistance to corrosion, chemicals, acids, etc. These two alloys are also known for their machinability, weldability, and formability:

Beneficial Feeding Components and Features

We also provide components that can enhance the feeding and orientation process, thus increasing the manufacturing speed, reducing downtime, and enhancing process efficiency.

  • Outside Track Bowls: For medical manufacturing, we suggest our medical clients to choose outside track bowls. This bowl type enables easier part orientation, higher feed rates, and allows for the use of multiple feeding lines.
  • Drive Units: We recommend the 15″ to 30″ core diameter drive units, which are specifically designed to support outside track bowls. The unit also comprises isolaters or rubber feet. This ensures fast yet silent operations.
  • Linear Powered Tracks: Our linear power tracks are designed to convey oriented parts from the bowl feeder to their next processing point. These linear power tracks are mounted directly on a solid stainless steel support to ensure smooth feeding and accurate track alignment.

List of Compatible Application Components

At VFI, we can design our vibratory bowl feeders to feed and orient medical parts and components of various sizes and shapes. A few well-known examples include:

  • Medical plastic bottles
  • Medicine cups
  • Syringe plungers
  • Sample and storage tubes
